Wings~of~War: Singapore 1941 - Updated 4 November 2009

Unread post by Tiger »

Wings~of~War is a continuous 24 hour, 7 day dynamic campaign for IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 4.09m, on a bundled T-1 connection using FB Daemon II (FBD2) and Lowengrin's Dynamic Campaign Generator (DCG). The Wings~of~War Server will go online at 0001 hours; 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on Monday, 9 November 2009 and will go offline at 0001 hours; 12:01 p.m. Eastern Standard Time the following Monday, 16 November 2009. The server will reset every two hours to keep the Wings~of~War generated mission objectives current and up to date. A two hour session will equal one campaign day. At the end of the one week period we will tally the scores to determine the victor.

The victory conditions and objectives for each battle are determined by the mission generator. The briefing will contain reports of conflicts in various areas of the map. You will need to fly in defense of your ground units as they will be attacked by enemy on the ground and in the air. Reports of the previous day’s activity will be displayed along with the mission briefing.

Rules

1.) Each participant must be registered for the event. You can find the link to the registration form on the main page of the web site. The link is entitled Event Registration.
2.) All participants must be listed as an active squadron member on their website’s roster.
3.) There will be a limit of 30 pilots per side in the server at any one time.
4.) All pilots will fly with the appropriate markings
5.) Any pilot found to be cheating (flying hacked, exiting the server to avoid a death, etc.) will be banned for the remainder of the campaign.

Scoring

Points are awarded depending upon what happens to the plane that you shoot at in each combat. Points are awarded differently based on what happens to the enemy aircraft that you targeted and whether it is destroyed in the air, force-lands, crash lands at a friendly base or another aircraft intercepts it on its return journey to base. The last plane to shoot into the enemy aircraft will be awarded the kill points. If ground units also hit the target and no air hits were achieved the ground unit is regarded as the killing unit. If the targeted plane does not disintegrate but lands successfully the score is ignored. Pressing "Re-Fly" adds the points achieved in the last sortie to the score.

Scoring is based on the default values for targets. A list of target values can be found here; Target Values. You must survive and return to base to get 100% of your score. If you are forced to land outside of the boundaries of an allied airbase you will be awarded 70% of your score. You will be awarded 50% of your score if you bail out over friendly territory. You will not be awarded any of your score if you are captured or die in combat.

Sit Out Times

The Wings~of~War Server is set up to govern itself meaning that the sit out times, aircraft ordnance load outs, etc., are handled by the Dynamic Campaign Generator and FB Daemon II. If you bail out over friendly territory you can re-fly immediately. If you bail out over enemy lines you have a 1 in 10 chance of escape.

Death/Capture Penalty: 15 minutes (approximately)

Tiger with 1.2 being out will this cause a problem flying this battle? And if 1.3 is ready what effect will this have on those wanting to fly will we have to have a seperate install in order to fly?

=S= All

With the server software only recognizing 1.1 it may be wise to update the server prior to the launch of the campaign, because I'm starting to wonder if we will get kicked because were all updated to 1.2 :|

I still have problems with FS even before the newest mods came out, perhaps now I can try these mods and see if I could join.

S!

Can we get a quick confirmation on what Game install will be required for Wings of War-Singapore?

Will it be UI 1.1 or UI 1.2

Thanks

=S= All!

I believe Tiger is going to wait until 1.3 is released. That's the official word. Though we might want to make sure how many of us are 1.1 or 1.2. Lets consider doing a poll just to find out how many are 1.1 or 1.2 so we'll know who is able to play. Now what if we do have a majority of 1.2?
Perhaps we can hold off the campaign until 1.3. By the way, I agree with Tiger on waiting until 1.3 is released that way at least a majority of the players will be caught up to date.

S!~ Gents,

I'd rather not delay the campiagn and I have been testing 4.09m on the server and everything appears to be working correctly. My thinking is that AAA UI 1.1 is now obsolete with the release of AAA UI 1.2. AAA UI 1.2 is now obsolete with the release of AAA UI 1.2.5 and 4.09m. And, AAA UI 1.2.5 will soon be obsolete with the release of AAA UI 1.3. So, I am seriously considering running Singapore 1941 using 4.09m. The reason is because if the majority of the players have upgraded to 4.09m and UI 1.2.5 then they will have the ability to use a version switcher and get back to 4.09m, much the same way as last week's =AVG= practice when we switched to 4.08m to make the greatest possible number of players compatible.

When I said wait on the release of 1.3, I meant waiting to update the server, because then you wouldn't have to update all those patches.
